About our Organization
Blackhawk Appaloosa Association, Inc. was founded in 1965 as a Regional Appaloosa Club in Territory III, Zone B, of the National Appaloosa Horse Club for the purpose of promoting the Appaloosa horse in the Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin area.

Blackhawk is governed by a slate of Officers and Directors selected from 44 counties of our Region, and by the Bylaws and Rules established.  Through the officers, directors and committee chairpersons, many activities are provided for the various needs of the membership.  The promotion of the Appaloosa is furthered through the following efforts:

  • Nationally Approved Horse Shows

  • Futurities

  • Open Show

  • Year-End Club Awards

  • Youth Program (4-H Reach Out)

  • Trail Riding

  • Newsletter

Members of Blackhawk have been successful in all levels of the Appaloosa field with many National and World Champions on record for both horse and individual accomplishments.  Many Blackhawk members have taken an active role in the National organization as Directors, National Queen and as approved judges.
